2017 - 18 Focus

The Steering Committee met to plan for next year.  We decided that we will continue having a theme each year, but we agreed that we would take a break from the focus on the K-12 Science Framework while the standards review is going on next year (congratulations to John Eyolfson who is co-chairing the science review committee!). Given the standards review, the issues swirling around the Department of Education and so forth, we landed on Advocating for Science as next year’s focus.  Our intent is to invite an elected official or somebody from an education-focused organization to attend our meetings to learn about CSEN and what we do. We want to provide training and a toolkit so that educators can become advocates for science education with their parents, administrators, local and national politicians.  Of course, we will also have a science education topic, as well.

Save the date for the kick-off meeting: September 6, 2017 at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science

We wish everyone a rejuvenating summer.

 Best,

The Steering Committee
